It’s settled: Kodak Ektar 100 is my favourite film

I’ve finished editing the TIF scans of three medium format rolls shot with the Mamiya 645. One is Fuji Reala 100, one is Kodak Ektar 100 and one is Kodak Portra 400. I have to say, the beauty and the profound contrast of the Ektar 100 are unbeatable, although it is not very kind on portraits. I love the Portra 400 too, but I don’t like how it performs when underexposed, becoming too harsh. Anyway here are a couple of the scans. With these Fuji digital imaging did a great job, although I have to say that some pictures had serious scratches/blemishes on them.

To begin with some wheat shots with dreamy bokeh, taken past Grove Ferry towards Sandwich  (Kent), while hiking in the mud with a friend:

Mamiya 645 Pro, Sekor 2.8/80N, f2.8, probably 1/1000, Ektar 100, handheld.

The following were taken in Hothfield, Ashford. Here Kodak Ektar shows all its sharpness, saturation and contrast:

Mamiya 645 Pro, Sekor 2.8/55N, f16, probably 1s, Ektar 100, tripod.

Finally a couple of shots from the Fuji Reala, which I did not enjoy very much. Latitude is much less than the Ektar, colour rendition is not as good, and overall the image is much ‘mushier’. Still at Hothfield, Ashford. These are my two favourite images of the roll.
